PREVIEW 1 - 9/8/98

WARNING! This file contains a detailed storyline (a.k.a. HINTS!) of Western Vengeance. Read only if you are the kind of person that reads the last page of a novel first! :)

SETTING:
The Old West. Your Pa never came home from herding strays. Ma sent you to Carbonado in search of him. Maybe someone in town knows where he is.

DETAILED STORY (THE WHOLE SHEBANG!)
When out herding cattle, your Pa chased a stray up into the hills then into an abandoned mine. Pa pursued the stray deep into a passageway and stumbled upon Nasty Ned and his gang! He overheard them planning a robbery of the Carbonado bank and just as Pa was sneaking out to warn the sheriff, he was caught by Ned. They tied him up in the mine, and headed to Carbonado. After robbing the bank, Ned hid the loot in the mine and the mine entrance and they took your Pa outside while Ned caved-in the passageways and entrance with dynamite. Ned and the gang then took your Pa and headed to Black Rock to hide. However, as they rode through Silver City, Pa managed to escape. As he was running away in the dark, they shot him and left him for dead. Ned and his Gang raced out of town toward Black Rock, where they holed up in the "Dirty Dawg Saloon".

Meanwhile, Holly - one of Miss Lucy LaRue's "girls" - hearing the hots, found your Pa almost dead in the alley in Silver City. As he was dying, he told her the story how he found Ned, of the bank obbery, and of the location of the mine. She took him to see Doc Baker and returned to her room. Pa died soon after.

Holly drew a map of the mine's location, but she was afraid Ned would find her so she told no one, and kept the map hidden under her pillow in her room at Miss Lucie LaRue's brothel. By getting this map, the caved-in mine entrance will be revealed inthe hills NE of Will's family ranch.

To speak with any of the girls at Miss Lucy LaRue's Brothel, Will will need to give a silver dollar to Miss Lucy in the sitting room. He can only find a silver dollar by opening the old rusty safe in the burned down bank in Mud creek. However, he needs the safe combination which can only be found written on a scrap of paper under the desk of Banker Jones - the Carbonado Bank Manager.

Dolly, another one of Miss LaReu's girls knows the password to get into the Dirty Dawg Saloon, but will only tell Will after he first talks to Holly.

Once he has the Password, Will can enter the Dirty Dawg saloon in Black Rock. If Will has the "Ace up his sleeve" which he gets from Mr. Rogers - the Gambler in the Carbonado Saloon - he can beat Nasty Ned in cards. After winning, Will challenges Ned to a gunfight and he must kill Ned with his Pa's Colt .45 to get out of the saloon alive. Will then grabs Ned's gunbelt to prove to the sheriff in Carbonado that he did indeed kill the outlaw. When he picks up the gunbelt, a key falls out of a pouch hidden in the gunbelt. It is the key to the dynamite locker in the abandoned mine!

If Will goes into town and shows the sheriff Ned's gunbelt, he will get a $500 reward for killing Ned.

When Will gets to the mine, he finds the entrance collapsed, and to dig it out, he must get the shovel from Prospector Pete who lives in the mountains NE of Mud Creek. Before the thirsty Pete will give him the shovel, Will must bring him a bucket of ice-cold water from the well on the Circle C ranch.

After Will digs out the Mine entrance, he can use the key Ned's key to open the dynamite locker. The dynamite inside can be used to clear the passageways to the hidden loot. After finding the loot, he can take it back to Banker Jones in Carbonado and get another $500 reward.

After Will returns the loot, and collects the bounty on Ned's head, Ma will meet him at the Carbonado crossroad and the town will cheer for the hero of Carbonado!
